Stories
Robert and Sandra Kyle’s Trip to India

Visited the statue and home of Mahatma Ghandi that was gifted to him by the India government, He was assassinated outside his home in 1948 in Delhi. Went to see Humayun’s (second Mughal Emperor of India) and his wife's tomb. Built in the 16th Century and was regarded as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal.
The Markets in Delhi only sell fresh food. Food comes in every day via oxen.  There is a part of the market where the Tradesmen wait to be hired. Visited the Sikh Temple in old Delhi where the community kitchen is staffed by to volunteers who provided food for up to 1400 people. Visited the Taj Mahal in the morning was the best time.
Went to Agra and visited some farms. In Jaipur visited the Observatory and the 300 year old sun dial which to this day is only 2 second out GMT. This was built by a Maharajah who was an astronomer and scientist. Visited Red Fort that house the British during their occupation when the British left India they took the gems from the walls of the fort. When to the Palace on the Lake used for parties wanting to shoot ducks in Jaipur.  Visited the Amber Fort built in 1135 and finished in 1592.
Elephants and jeeps are used as transport as well as walking and bikes. The elephants work about a week then go for respite care because of the strain and damages to their feet.
Went fishing in Kerala (Southern India). Visited a sawmill. Certain type of non-flying ducks clean up after the rice is harvested. Ducks are everywhere as is the sacred cows which you are not allowed to touch. There are about 1400 houseboats on the lake. Good for tourism.
Caste system is still a problem in India although things are changing from old India to the new India.
